Organic Gardens in Public Schools
Set up, Planted, Tended and Grown by students!
The teacher who founded Kids Grow Greener has already set up several organic garden projects at schools in Yonkers.
Gardening is a great activity that not only gets students outside and moving around, but has many other benefits as well:
- Builds a sense of accomplishment in students
- Ties concepts of math and science to tangible objects in the real world
- Teaches concepts of sustainable living
- Teaches concepts of nutrition
- Is a set of life-long skills transferable to a variety of life tasks and settings
Most Schools have spaces which can be converted into productive, organic gardens. The amount of space needed can vary depending on program goals, budget and other factors.

- Kids Grow Greener has developed an extensive gardening curriculum to cover all phases of organic school gardening.
- KGG can advise on materials, costs, and all aspects of your gardening project.
