Posts from Kids: Share your stories! > WOW--Grade 6 Gardeners, great comments!!!

Hi Everyone (or almost everyone),

I am so glad to see your comments and questions. I don't know if you'll be able to get to this page at home, but in any case I hope to see you this week on THURSDAY---partly because of the Veterans' Day holiday, partly because we NEED THE SUN! (If you answered the questions Mrs. V. gave you, maybe you will have guessed why....)

You have so many great questions. I am not sure how to answer them individually, but I'll cover a few here--everyone please read, and if I didn't answer your question, well, write me another post, or ask me later.

Tattiana---I don't think ringworm is caught from garden soil. Worms live in the soil---they are our dear friends!!---but ringworm is really a skin problem. In any case, we have plenty of gloves to go around, so nobody needs to dig, weed, or plant with bare hands.

All who asked about winter and plants: did you notice the COLD FRAME in the courtyard? It's over by the water tap/hose connection. We'll use that on the semicircular bed, and other devices on other beds. I think our plants will be OK for a couple more weeks.

Last Friday, when I heard it might freeze, I went to the garden and fed the plants some plant food. That is partly because they do better in case of freezing if they are not dry. I don't think it got too cold on Friday night.
DId anyone see frost on the ground or on cars on Saturday morning?

We will plant GARLIC soon. But that is for much later---it will come up in the spring, grow very tall, and be ready probably when you enter 7th grade (maybe at the end of sixth grade). Good things take time!!

That's it for now, my hardworking garden buddies.

Ms. M.
